Real FA Swans side before their win v Mullingar Ath

Match Day 13 saw Real FA Swans players & coaches make and emotional return to former home in gainstown. The game stated brightly with both sides creating some decent chances. Eventually from a Swans corner the ball fell to Zoe Mooney in the box who stuck a volley to the roof of the Athletic net. This drove on the home side and within minutes athletics Gaynor Cup start Lauren Sheridan supplied the assist for the athletic striker to level the game up. In fact just five minutes later Sheridan again worked her magic as she strolled into the swans box to put the home side in front. The swans on the other hand wasted chance after chance and but for some more clinical finishing would prob have being out of sight in the contest. Eventually the entry of Chloe Smullen proved vital. Smullen had a couple of warning shots before eventually drifting in from the right and unleashing a rocket past the athletic keeper. Half Time 2-2

The second half started at a ferocious pace with players from both sides putting in some full blooded tackles. The swans continued to try and play their passing game but pitch conditions didn't allow this to happen as much as they had wished. However that said they still created chance after chance but failed to extend their lead. Athletic to be fair were always dangerous on the break and had some good spells in the half. As the game entered the last ten minutes the swans won a free kick about 25 yards out. Katie Kelly having had a few sighters already made no mistake with this one as she shot high over the keepers head. Swans were now leading 3-2 and closing in on another league victory. However there was one more moment of magic as Chloe dribbled down the left, cut inside and passed the ball past the athletic keeper to end the tie as a contest. Real FA Swans finished the game 4-2 winners thus completing the double over their local rivals.

Full credit must go to the entire squad including subs who didn't get to play tonight. We started the season as a group and as we close in on the final few games of the season we hope to finish the season as a group. Credit must also go to David Fulham and his Mullingar side who really put it up to the swans tonight. It's great to have two quality sides in the town of Mullingar and we wish them all the best in their final game of the season on Sat.

For the Real FA Swans next stop Glasgow Celtic as we go on our team tour.
