Real FA Swans U16 after their Win in Banagher
Real FA Swans U16 after their Win in Banagher

Six goals, four penalties, great saves and total football is what made up this latest encounter between Real FA Swans and Banagher Utd.

Real FA Swans dominated the opening exchanges with Chloe Smullen, Kacey Geoghegan and Alison Bane all causing Banagher major problems and their keeper making four decent saves all in the first 15 mins. Jess Maloney then played Chloe in again down the left. Chloe skipped past the defender and was taking down in the box. Zoe Mooney stepped up and fired the ball to the roof of the net. Swans domination saw them play some fantastic football and when another slick passing move seen Alison break down the right it looked like swans would double their lead. However the Banagher keeper again made a fantastic save pushing the ball over the bar. From the resulting corner Katie Kelly's run towards the incoming ball was blocked and she was wrestled to the ground. Penalty number two. Nerves of steel Zoe Mooney stepped up again this time smashing the ball to the back of the net high to the keepers right. The second half ended in peno number 3 of the game. From a Banagher free kick the ball struck Shauna's arm inside the box and the peno was awarded. Banagher made no mistake from the spot. Half time Banagher 1-2 Real FA Swans.

Having not played for three weeks and with the lack of matches we were considering a long second half where it would test our fitness levels. However this was not the case. Real FA Swans bossed the second half and played some incredible football. Katie Kelly was having a Xabi Alonso type match in the middle of park. He range of passing, her heading and tackling ability, and her quick movement of the ball were all aspects of her game that have improved dramatically over the past number of weeks. Katie however was well assisted by the rest of her team mates. Evelyn playing her first game for Real FA Swans having signed from Peamount Utd in the window had a brilliant game at centre half as did her partner Nicole Geoghegan who learned from a couple of recent heading mistakes to be dominat in the air yesterday. Real FA Swans created a hat full of opportunities in the second half and but for a cruel bounce here and there the score stayed the same for most of the half. Finally after some great work from Shauna and Aoife down the right the ball was slid across the box. Zoe Mooney used all her strength to gain the advantage over the Banagher defender before passing the ball past the keeper. 3-1 and Mooney Hat-Trick. A rare Banagher attack in the second half saw a coming together in the swans box and the ref for the fourth time pointed to the spot. It was the swans keeper who kept her nerve on this occasion and made a super save to her left. From the resulting save the Swans broke quickly and found themselves the other end of the pitch with Jess on an individual run avoiding some last ditch tackles and eventually squeezing the ball past the keeper. Great counter attack and Swans were 4-1 up. With a couple of minutes to go Banagher played some nice football and eventually broke through the swans back four before sliding the ball past the advancing swans keeper. Well done to all our young squad today. Louise again looked comfortable when she came on as did Nicola and Sarah. All three playing their first year of soccer. Kacey Geoghegans performance up front was excellent and her clever runs throughout the came caused Banagher major problems. She will feel unlucky not to have found the net but the ball just would not fall right for her today.
