Real FA Swans hosted Killeigh today in match day eight of their league campaign. It had the real feel of a post Christmas match, too many sweets, late nights, all out of a routine and that was just the parents & coaches. I can only imagine how the players were feeling.

Real FA Swans shaded the opening exchanges and were dominant in possesion, but never really created too many goalscoring opportunities. Killeighs main danger came from a direct ball over the top to their pacy wingers but like the swans never really created an opportunity. For the majority of the first half the same pattern stayed in place. The Swans put together some slick passing in the middle of the park but it was the final ball that was just not good enough. Credit to Killeigh they came with a plan to park the bus and that's what they did, in fact with nine players accross the penalty box on more than one occasion made it impossible to get a shot away. As the half ended both the swans keeper Geace and the Killeigh keeper both could have went off to make themselves a cup of tea. Half Time 0-0

The second half kicked off and from the off the swans again were on the front foot. Chloe Smullen went on a run down the left wing going past a few defenders. When Chloe did pull the ball back accross the box it skidded up off the surface and both Zöe Mooney & Kacey Geoghegan couldn't sort their feet out quick enough to find the net. Alison Bane was next to have a go this time down the right, Allison got to the end line passed the ball Jess Maloney who just fired wide. Killeigh on the ropes came out fighting. From a swans move Killeigh won the ball and quickly broke down the left. Nicole Geoghegan and Claire Stuart could do nothing to prevent the ball being played into the middle of the goal where the Killeigh player converted with ease. Twenty mins to go in this one the swans seemed to have their work cut out for them.

Real FA Swans continued to be patient and played their passing game. Again dominating the ball and starting to show signs that a goal was coming. The Killeigh keeper made some saves from distance from Zöe Mooney and Aoife Glennon, before she pulled off her best save of the game. Chloe Smullen again swept aside some last ditch tackles go find herself at an acute angle near the Killeigh goal. Smullens shot defelected off the Killeigh defender and was brilliantly taped onto the crossbar by the keeper.

It's seemed like for all the possession that the swans were going to leave empty handed. Cue Zoey Purcell. The centre half turned centre forward for ten mins showed a bit of pace, courage and composure something that the Swans had being missing today as she curled a right footed shot over the Killeigh keeper and into the net. What an entrance and what a goal. The swans with a minute to go then pressed for the winner. However with no time left a draw was probably a fair result. Credit to Killeigh who put in a strong, disciplined performance and each player was very good on the day. Real FA swans did not have any stand out displays today on the pitch. The stand our performances came from Louise, Sinead and Shauna our unused substitute's. Their encouragement towards their teammates was duly noted. Well done girls just goes to show we have a great togetherness and team spirt.
