Real FA Swans travelled to Killeigh on match day seven in MSL league. Swans with a depleted squad in terms of numbers definitely did not lack any heart, desire and most of all quality on the pitch as the depth of their young squad was most definitely tested today.

Killeigh Utd started the game the strongest and created a number of early chances down the left hand side of their attack. Thankfully for the swans, Grace O Sullivan was on top form early in the game and snuffed out all chances created. It took the Swans at least twenty minutes to settle and find each other with their passing brand of football. Inspiration is often found by players on the pitch, but it was the arrival pitch side of the leagues top goal scorer from last season and swans inspirational injured striker Katelyn Rooney that coincided in Chloe Smullen racing clear and shooting past the Killeigh keeper. From here the Swans seemed to settle down and dominate the game. Towards the end of the first half the swans put together a fantastic move. Grace O Sullivan in goals played a solid pass to Zoe Mooney who was playing in a much more defensive position today. Zoe's first touch was excellent thus allowing her to get turned and dribble up the centre of the pitch. Zöe slid a lovely pass to Aoife Glennon on the left wing, Aoife then played in the energetic Jess Maloney who raced through on goal. Jess was heavily pursued by the Killeigh defender but she had the class to put her foot on the ball, watch the Killeigh defender run past her before Jess shooting past the helpless keeper. Half time Killeigh Utd 0-2 Real FA Swans
As expected Killeigh came out very strong in the second half. The beginning of the second half was looking very much like the beginning of the first. However instead of Grace O Sullivan dealing with everything it was Oonagh Cassidy who was without doubt the best player on the pitch today. Oonagh's defending in one v one situations and her calmness on the ball to find a pass today was fantastic. In fact the whole back four were well tested in the second half and all played extremely well. As the second half reached its midpoint, the fitness levels of the swans were starting to be the difference. Sarah Geoghegan was playing very well in the middle of the park and her link up play with Kacey Geoghegan up front. Nicola Groenewald who started her first game today deserves a special mention as she put in a very good display on the right hand side of midfield. In the closing stages of the half the swans possession of the ball was excellent and soon they created their final chance of the game with a brilliant through ball from Shauna Cunningham put in Jessica who raced through and chipped the ball over the advancing keeper.
It was a fantastic display from the swans and as mentioned earlier it just goes to show how important  a good squad and team spirit is. Killeigh Utd were a tough test and despite their league position can take plenty of positives from the game
Player of the match: Oonagh Cassidy
