Since our last edition of Inside View we have being very busy, with various different events going on. Here is a quick look back at what has being happening at Real Football Academy.
Our academy has being extreamly busy on a weekly basis in the past month. Block one ended very well and block two is already in full swing. All sessions are full with a good mix of old and new players and are all working hard each week to fulfill some personal goals and achievements.
Celtic Life..... Tumelo Tlou had a fantastic week over in Glasgow during the mid-term break. A huge opportunity for the young man, who trained for the week at Celtic's academy, enjoyed a stadium tour along with a match day experience and even got to meet manager Brendan Rodgers. From all reports Tumelo impressed on his week long visit and I'm sure he will remember the experience for a long time. Celtic Camp..... While Tumelo was in Glasgow, we were lucky enough to have two fantastic coaches from Celtic academy stay with us for a week as we hosted our first Celtic Camp. Michael and Andrew put on a masterclass of coaching to our thirty seven players who attended. The camp ran for five days from 10am to 3pm and consisted of different aspects of football including the famous Celtic Turns, where you are not likely to see elsewhere. Overall the camp was a massive success.
Blitz Football......Just as recent last Friday eve our Junior Academy took part in an u10 blitz that we hosted. Derry Rovers from Edenderry travelled with two teams, while the Roscommon Schoolboys League travelled with three teams. There was a fantastic feel good factor to the evening despite the very cold weather. Our young side were fantastic on the night, playing some excellent football. Out of our 14 players in our group only 6 actually play club football. Despite their lack of experience we came away with two wins and a draw from three twenty minute games.
REAL FA SWANS
On the club side of things our u16 girls have started the season very well indeed. Our young side who the majority are underage again next year have taken four wins from five in the midlands schoolgirls league. Their only defeat coming to the power house that is Athlone based side Bealnamulla. In fact it was also Bealnamulla who ended our WSFAI cup run this year too. However despite the few set backs our girls have responded well and are playing some very attractive football whilst also learning different aspects of the game. The girls hard work and quality has resulted in seven of our squad representing the Midlands League over two different age groups. These seven players train every Sunday in Tullamore and AIT in Athlone. U9.......Our underage structure is also now in full swing with thre interest building each week. On the back of a soccer sisters set up by the FAI our u9 section is now going extreamly well. We hope to build on this now and possibly have an u10 team next season. U12...... Over the past three weeks we have had twelve girls take part in a coaching session along side our u16 girls. We will continue to monitor the interest at this age group over the coming months and hopefully within this age group we could also be looking at a side for next year.
That's all from us at the moment. Remember you can stay up to date with all the action across all our social media Twitter @WeAreRFA, Instagram Real Football Academy and Facebook Real Football Academy.
