Match day two saw the swans take on the force that is Bealnamulla. Having started the game very well the game was beginning to come to life. Bealnamulla put on some early pressure but the Swans defence along with keeper Grace dealt with everything that was thrown at them early doors. The Swans soon broke through the Bealnamulla defence with Chloe Smullen racing onto a through ball, Chloe composed herself and found the net to put The Swans one up. Bealnamulla soon levelled and were beginning to find their feet. In fact the whole first half was blow for blow, goal for goal, very entertaining. One of those Bealnamulla goals was from the penalty spot. Half time score was 3-3 and a superb half for Chloe who bagged herself a hat-trick.
Bealnamulla at half time found a couple of more levels in their game and started the second half in blistering fashion. Another cool finish from the Athlone outfit saw them take a 4-3 lead, a lead that they were not going to let slip on this occasion. However if it was not for an unlucky strike by Alison Bane just inside the box that struck the post, and another Chloe Smullen delivery from out on the left that was just too high for Bane again at the back post. Things could have being much closer. However credit where credit is due, the Bealnamulla girls were fluent in attack and as they tagged on goal after goal, the game was now out of reach. Having said that the Swans once again used their full bench giving everyone important game time in their player development plans. Every day is a school day and once our girls take something from today and learn from their experience, things will improve. Although all our players gave it everything on the day, the stand out performances were Alison Bane, Grace o Sullivan in goals and of course Chloe Smullen with an outstanding hat-trick.
